A damaged second molar was restored with composite resin under rubber-dam isolation while preserving the remaining tooth.

Assessing the damage
We examined the existing restoration and the extent of damaged tooth tissue.
Removing decay
Damaged tissue was removed in stages while preserving healthy tooth wherever possible.
Rebuilding the tooth’s shape
Resin was built up in stages, taking account of the contact with the adjacent tooth and the chewing surface.
Completing the restoration
The molar’s form and function were restored while preserving the remaining tooth.
Final check in the mouth
After removing the rubber dam, we checked the relationship with the surrounding teeth and the final appearance in the mouth.
