01Are full-mouth implants, full-arch implants and All-on-X the same treatment?
Full-mouth implants is a broad term for replacing all the teeth in the upper or lower jaw with implant-supported restorations. Full-arch implants is a term used particularly for All-on-X treatment, in which several implants support one connected prosthesis that replaces all the teeth in an arch. This is the approach we use for full-arch implant treatment at Hyungje Dental.
02My dentures keep moving. Can I have full-arch implants?
We recommend discussing full-arch implants if your dentures are uncomfortable. To manage costs, it may be possible to treat one jaw with full-arch implants and use a denture for the other. Bring your current dentures so we can examine the fit and bite.
03Do all my remaining teeth have to be removed?
We evaluate each tooth for decay, cracks, root and bone health. If a tooth can be kept, we compare ways to preserve it and explain why extraction is needed when recommended.
04How will I eat during treatment?
After surgery, food texture depends on healing and the stability of temporary teeth. Even with temporary teeth, start with soft foods and follow the guidance at your appointment.
05Is age or a chronic condition a barrier?
Age alone does not determine eligibility. We review medicines, chronic conditions, bone and gum health, and daily cleaning. We may consult your physician when needed.
06Is bone grafting always necessary?
We use the remaining bone to place implants in optimal positions and minimize bone grafting. If grafting is needed, we explain the reason and extent.
07Can temporary teeth be fitted on the day of surgery?
Not for everyone. We check bone and general health before surgery, then initial implant stability and the bite during surgery.
08How long does treatment take?
Diagnosis, surgery, healing, temporary teeth and final prostheses happen in stages. Grafting and healing affect the schedule, which we explain after examination.
09How much does it cost?
Material, temporary teeth and maintenance fees are listed on the pricing page. Any additional treatment is explained after examination and before treatment.
10Will surgery be painful?
We explain the findings and procedure before surgery, manage pain according to the treatment and patient, and provide medication and aftercare instructions.
11Are more implants always better?
Implant position matters as well as the number. We distribute implants to support the entire prosthesis evenly from front to back. We usually place six; four may be considered in special cases, such as severe lower-jaw bone loss.
12How do I care for the prosthesis?
Clean under the connected prosthesis every day. Follow-up visits check the gums, bite, screws and prosthesis.
