Pain After Root Canal Treatment: Recovery or a Reason to Recheck?

This English guide presents the key points of the original Korean article. Individual diagnosis and treatment choices require an examination.

01

Why can the tooth still hurt?

The tissue around the root may remain tender while it heals, and biting on a high temporary filling can add discomfort. A crack or another surrounding problem may also need assessment.

02

What change matters?

Pay attention to whether discomfort is gradually settling or becoming worse. Increasing pain, swelling, a new bite problem or symptoms that do not improve should be discussed with your treating dentist.

03

Looking after the tooth

Follow the instructions given for temporary restorations and avoid excessive pressure on the tooth. A follow-up examination can check the bite, the restoration and the tissues around the root.
