Why Do We Grind Our Teeth, and How Is It Managed?

This English guide presents the key points of the original Korean article. Individual diagnosis and treatment choices require an examination.

01

Signs worth discussing

Morning jaw soreness, worn or chipped teeth, headaches and discomfort when chewing can accompany grinding or clenching. Symptoms alone do not identify a single cause, so the teeth, muscles and jaw movement should be assessed.

02

Protecting the teeth

A splint may be recommended when the teeth need protection. Its fit and the time it should be worn are individual. If it becomes painful, tight or damaged, arrange an adjustment rather than forcing it into place.

03

Other care and habits

Notice when you keep your teeth together during the day, and tell the dentist about pain or changes in your bite. Muscle injections may be considered in selected cases, alongside an assessment of tooth wear, the jaw joint and other treatment needs.
